Operation Stella
101st Airborne Division, the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment
has adopted a small village 4 miles northwest of where they currently
reside in Iraq near Mosul (code name "Stella").
The village has a population of 500 with a school age population
of nearly 200. The troopers of the 2/17 Cav have recently completed
construction of an 8 room school house that includes playground
equipment.
They
have the building, the teachers and the students but are in need
of school supplies and are asking for our help. Minnesota Wire
& Cable Co. is supporting this program and have started gathering
school supplies and other donations. If you have an interest in
donating to Operation Stella please call MWCC at 651-642-1800
and speak with Nori Gardner. We would be more than happy to pick
up any donations and our deadline to ship to Iraq will be on Dec.
19, 2003.
The
teacher of the school put together a list of supplies they could
use. The list is as follows:
- Notebooks
- Paper/construction paper
- Writing utensils
