New Leadership Joins Minnesota Wire & Cable Co.
St. Paul, MN, 06/29/04:  Minnesota Wire & Cable Co., a leading manufacturer of wire and custom cable assemblies for medical, defense, telecommunications and instrumentation announced today that it has invested heavily in new leadership in key positions.

Integral to the companyís concerted efforts to bolster product development and foster accelerated investment in government research and development (R&D),  Minnesota Wire and Cable Co. has hired four senior managers in recent weeks.  This announcement follows quickly on the heels of two new hires early this month, John Martin as Director of Corporate Sales and Jeff Johnson as Sales Account Manager.

The first of the company's latest hires was Wojciech Strutynski (pronounced Voy-tek Strew-tin-ski) as Engineering Manager.  Voytek brings manufacturing experience from 12 years at TURCK, finishing his career there as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The company looks forward to gaining from his excellence in ensuring efficiencies in engineering processes.

Chip Laingen joined the Minnesota Defense Division of Minnesota Wire and Cable Co. in the new position of Defense Communications Manager.  As a recently-retired Navy Commander and Commanding Officer of a helicopter squadron, Chip brings substantial leadership experience and an impressive public affairs and communications background to the company.  His primary responsibility will be the internal and external communications and leadership necessary in building the Minnesota Defense Jobs Alliance, a recent company initiative to link and build relationships among defense industries in Minnesota.

The third new hire is Tom Kukowski, as the Research and Development Manager.  To complement the Minnesota Defense Divisionís recent aggressiveness in securing critical government R&D opportunities, Tom will be chiefly responsible for the formulation of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and other research funding proposals.  Tom has more than 20 years of program and project management experience in the development of medical therapeutic and diagnostic systems, medical devices, building control and aerospace products.

Finally, Bruce Hanson joined Minnesota Wire and Cable Co. as the new Computer Operations Manager.  Bruce brings an extensive background from the Navy and civilian world as a manager of customer, field service, system and application engineers, and as a technical sales manager.

Minnesota Wire and Cable Co.'s recent focus on hiring a diverse, talented group of leaders from many different industries and the military reflects its desire to restructure for and invest in a future that involves more government R&D opportunities, and product development to complement its industry lead in seamless manufacturing from design to delivery.

The company's President and CEO, Paul Wagner said, ìThe market is presenting us with tremendous opportunities to grow in new areas, particularly with regard to defense related products to help protect our soldiers in the field.  To capitalize on those opportunities, while maintaining excellence in our core manufacturing and customer service, we decided that we needed experienced leadership who will help take us to the next level.
