Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. Recognized by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Saint Paul Foundation for Charitable Support to the Community

St. Paul, MN, 02/01/06 – Minnesota Wire & Cable (MWCC) was commended last month by both the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Saint Paul Foundation for its noteworthy contributions of time and money to numerous local, national and international charitable causes.

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce recently expanded its Keystone Program with a local effort called Minnesota Business Gives, for which MWCC was singled out as a company giving over 5% of its profits to charitable and/or nonprofit organizations. According to David Olson, the chamber’s president, MWCC represents "...the backbone of our economy and the foundation of charitable giving that happens in communities across our great state." MWCC was also featured in the Saint Paul Foundation’s recent marketing campaign. The company’s Charitable Giving Fund of the Saint Paul Foundation is actively giving back to areas the family owned company has traditionally cared about, such as housing, healthcare and education.

MWCC’s corporate vision includes an integral philosophy of giving back to community and country. "We manufacturer some pretty exciting things to help save lives," said Paul J. Wagner, Chairman and CEO. "I like the fact that our people contribute to society in other ways as well."

MWCC’s history of "giving back" includes many initiatives, such as: the creation of Charity Park that benefits city youth; active support of the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce; support of deployed service members through the Defense Alliance of Minnesota (founded by MWCC in 2004), and through the Association of the U.S. Army (the company was recognized by WCCO television in 2005 with the "Good Neighbor Award" for family support to deployed service members); and numerous other charitable campaigns such as employee contributions to disaster relief funds for hurricanes in the U.S., and earthquake and tsunami relief overseas.
