Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. to be Honored as Tibbetts Award Winner

St. Paul, MN, 09/13/07 – Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. (MWCC) has been selected as one of the winners of the 2007 Tibbetts Awards. MWCC will receive the award on Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C.

Named for Roland Tibbetts—the person acknowledged as the father of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program—these prestigious, national awards are made annually to those small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement. MWCC is one of 55 companies in the U.S. to receive this award and was selected from a pool of over 4,000 companies that receive contract and grants under the SBIR Program each year.

In 2002, MWCC began systematically bidding on SBIR and BAA solicitations in order to address this need. The success achieved since then (a 47% capture rate compared to the 10% national average) has led to substantial revenue increases, employment gains, technology infrastructure, intellectual property submissions, human and intellectual capital, and leveraged, related business, including:

• 40% growth in revenue in the past 4 years
• 22% increase in employees at all levels of the company, particularly high-end engineers and managers
• Over $4.5 million in direct and indirect R&D and development project revenue
