Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. honored by the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce

St. Paul, MN, 07/06/06 – At the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce’s recent annual luncheon, Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. (MWCC) was presented with the H.E.R.B.I.E. award for demonstrating on a consistent basis giving back to the community and country. The H.E.R.B.I.E. award is named after Herb Brooks, a Minnesota native and coach of the 1980 Olympic Gold medal winning hockey team and is awarded annually to an individual and an organization that best exemplify the following traits: Humanitarian, Enterprising, Resilient, Bold, Inspirational and Ethical.

Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. has consistently demonstrated the traits necessary to be awarded the prestigious H.E.R.B.I.E award. The company has established a donor directed fund with The St. Paul Foundation to help manage financial contributions, which helps provide scholarships to deserving St. Paul high school students. In addition, the company is a pioneer in supporting community involvement, U.S. service members, schools, employee disaster-relief programs and food shelf drives. Minnesota Wire & Cable has received countless awards, including Minnesota Family Business of the Year and the WCCO Good Neighbor Award for its role in providing free telephone calls to men and women in our armed services. MWCC has also given back through the creation of Charity Park that benefits city youth and support of deployed service members through the Defense Alliance of Minnesota (founded by MWCC in 2004).
