Wire & Cable Technology International (WCTI) recognized Minnesota Wire's elastomeric conductors as a "Top Product of 2010" in its January —February 2011 publication. The 7th annual recognition by the editorial staff of the international industry journal selected nine products as winners in their review of innovative wire and cable connector products.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 1/03/2011

Minnesota Wire's R&D products division, Minnovate, was notified last week that it was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the U.S. Air Force. AF103-204 was a competitive request for proposal late last year by the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 11/12/2010

The 3rd annual "Eau Claire Veterans Day BBQ 2010 —Serving Freedom's Finest," held at Minnesota Wire's production facility in Eau Claire, Wisconsin drew over 400 people on Veterans Day. The event raised funds for the Chippewa Falls Veterans Assistance Program (VAP) and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Unmet Needs Program.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 9/20/2010

Minnesota Wire announced today that it received a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) contract to create an "Advanced Defense Technologies (ADT) Cluster." The $600,000 firm, fixed-price contract for fiscal year 2011 is part of SBA's "Innovative Economies Pilot Initiative," officially launched today.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 9/8/2010

Minnesota Wire's research and development (R&D) division, Minnovate, today announced that it was awarded a Phase One Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office (PEO) for Aviation. The R&D Project is titled "Lightweight EMI Resistant Wiring Solutions." Its objective is to demonstrate and develop technologies to reduce the electromagnetic interference susceptibility and impact of both existing and future power wiring harnesses on Army aviation platforms.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 7/28/2010

Minnesota Wire's research and development (R&D) division, Minnovate, this week sent its final report to the U.S. Air Force Research Lab for its project titled "Structurally Embedded Power and Signal Cabling for Air Vehicles." The objective of the twelve month Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase One project was to develop and demonstrate concepts to enable the embedding of electric power and signal conductors and interconnects in air vehicle structures.

Minnesota Defense, a division of Minnesota Wire, announced today it has joined the EDGE® Innovation Network, a collaborative, open-environment initiative enabling industry and academia, with government input, to work together to enhance the delivery cycle of new technologies and innovative capabilities to warfighters and first responders.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 3/12/2010

Minnesota Defense this week began providing critical interconnect assemblies for the U.S. Army's "HULC" exoskeleton prototype for Soldiers. HULC (Human Universal Load Carrier) will be used by the U.S. military to help warfighters carry heavy combat loads. The high-technology, wearable system integrates with existing body-borne equipment and Soldier apparel.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 2/16/2010

Minnesota Wire's defense products division, Minnovate, recently began commercialization of its R&D technology that has been funded primarily through Department of Defense (DoD) research grants. The first product line – Elastomeric Interconnect Solutions – includes a range of "stretchy" conductors that can be applied to defense, medical or industrial market products.

Minnesota Wire had a record month of customer orders —nearly $4 million in January, and $9.5 million over two months —to add to the largest quarter of bookings in its corporate history. The rapid pace for 2010 represents annualized orders of $57 million, and has already led to 125 new jobs.

Minnesota Wire announced today that the company's R&D division, Minnovate, was awarded a Department of Defense (DoD) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant by the U.S. Air Force. The Phase I SBIR is a $100,000, one year "proof of concept" project that will explore the feasibility of "embedded wire for airborne applications."

Minnesota Wire recently filed two utility patents —the first in the company's 40-year history. The patents are for: "Komodo" Stretchy Wire, covering stretchy wire and braided stretchy wire, elastic nano composites for shielding, carbon nanotube (CNT) wire, and pure CNT shields; and Prognostic Health Management (PHM) which involves applications for laminating embedded capacitance in flexible circuits.

Minnesota Wire today hosted the Minnesota Manufacturer's Coalition at its corporate headquarters in St. Paul. The Coalition, formed in April 2004, is a consortium of association leaders representing 26 associations from across Minnesota who serve the needs of manufacturers. Any functional or vertically focused association whose members include manufacturers is welcome to participate.

Eau Claire, WI, 2/13/09

Minnesota Wire's Eau Claire facility has been honored by the Wisconsin State Headquarters of the American Legion as an outstanding "medium-sized" employer of Veterans. The "Employer of Veterans Award" recognizes companies that employ between 51 and 200 people, and go out of their way to hire, retain and honor Veterans for their service.

St. Paul, 11/04/08

Paul J. Wagner, Chairman and CEO of Minnesota Wire, will join Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty on a trade mission to Israel December 11-18. The trip will be Pawlenty's 15th overseas trip since becoming governor in 2003, including trade-centered visits to Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Poland and India. Israel is currently 22nd on the list of countries that receive Minnesota exports, worth $121 million in 2007.

Minnesota Wire is pleased to announce that Mr. Craig Benson has been hired to be the new Director of Corporate Sales. The move is coincident with the company's new emphasis on a more strategic approach to its markets, including: introduction of new products from its R&D division, engineering and test and measurement services for electrical signal integrity compliance; and more focused international sales, particularly in medical and defense markets.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 07/31/08

Minnesota Wire has been awarded a federal research grant from the Department of Defense (DoD) for continued work on its "Cobra" R&D program, or "RESS" (Rapid Expansion of Supercritical Solution) process. The "Phase II" Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant is from the U.S. Army's Armament R&D Center at the Picatinny Army Arsenal in New Jersey. The competitive award is worth $730,000 of direct R&D funding to further develop the $120,000 Phase I work now underway for the program, begun in 2007.

Minnesota Wire sold its subsidiary Minnesota Bramstedt Surgical (MBS) to a new owner, effective November 19th. The company, which has been in existence since 1939, and owned by Minnesota Wire since 1999 will be re-named Bramstedt Surgical, Inc.

Minnesota Wire hosted an executive level focus group on Wednesday to augment Enterprise Minnesota's statewide survey on manufacturing. The group was comprised primarily of leadership from defense related manufacturing firms, all of whom are members of the Defense Alliance of Minnesota, the state's defense and homeland security network which has its roots at Minnesota Wire.

St. Paul, Minnesota: 04/16/09

Minnesota Wire was recently selected as the exclusive provider of cables for the Ekeel backplane assemblies on the first of the U.S. Army's M-ATV vehicles (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) All Terrain Vehicle), a system that is central to the high priority buildup of combat forces in Afghanistan. The vehicles are a follow-on design to the original MRAP, and the urgency of their need has given it a "DX" procurement rating, the highest priority for a Pentagon system.

Minnesota Wire began operation of its new Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Lab this week. The company's EMC Lab is the latest tool in an array of test and measurement and R&D capabilities to provide industry-leading service for complete electrical signal integrity of wire and cable assemblies and their associated devices for a variety of markets. The Lab consists of a 3-meter EMI (electromagnetic interference) chamber that tests for susceptibility to interference from radiated emissions, and shielding effectiveness, ensuring pre-compliance of electrical products for medical, military, commercial and data communications standards.
