Minnesota Defense Hires Komodo™ Program Manager St. Paul, MN, 10/31/05: Minnesota Defense, a Division of Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. Co., has hired Chuck Cole to fill the position as Komodo™ Program Manager. Mr. Cole has over 20 years of experience developing defense and commercial systems using emerging technologies. Mr. Cole’s experience includes working as a Principle Investigator and Program Manager for developments funded by the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and NASA as well as working on several commercial projects. Mr. Cole holds two patents for mixed signal sensor interfaces and was invited into Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society. Some of his other developments have included laser range finders for precision targeting from aircraft, tanks and ships. He has also worked on wide- area hurricane flood control and environmental monitoring control systems.

The Komodo™research and development program proposed by Minnesota Defense develops a Future Force Warrior (FFW) interconnect system and is currently funded by the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center in Natick, MA. The system is comprised of innovative conductors, shields, and connectors that provide it with unmatched flexibility and durability. Komodo™ leverages advances in e-textiles and nanotechnology to enable soldier-worn personal area networks (PANs) that are comfortable, rugged, and resistant to noise (e.g. radio interference or electronic warfare). Based on the only field-tested soldier interconnect system—Soldier Interconnect 1.0 used in Afghanistan and Iraq—Komodo™ will directly benefit future versions of the Land Warrior and Future Force Warrior.
