Fred
Wagner, founder of MWCC, originally established Wagner Consultants
Corporation (WCC), a manufacturers' representative firm for general
electronic components, in 1968. After wire and cable products
were added to its line in the mid-1970s, WCC was renamed Minnesota
Wire & Cable Co. in 1978. That same year, MWCC began manufacturing
retractile cords and refocused its resources on serving the medical
industry. In 1980, MWCC began processing wire and cable. The company
achieved full vertical integration during the 1980s with the addition
of molding machines, a tooling department, extrusion lines, and
the addition of a manufacturing facility in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
MWCC has continued to expand throughout the 90's
and into the new decade. MWCC established subsidiaries and entered
new markets through acquisition. Currently MWCC has valuable clients
in industries spanning the manufacturing spectrum, including Medical
Devices, Defense Contracting and Telecommunications. In addition,
Minnesota
Bramstedt Surgical, Inc., a subsidiary of MWCC, repairs surgical
instruments.
In early 2003, in response to its growing Military
project involvement, MWCC created its newest division, Minnesota
Defense.
